Oceanside Collegiate Academy

Summit was requested to locate a suitable site in Mount Pleasant South Carolina for a 600 enrollment collegiate academy charter school. OCA is an elite sport and accelerated collegiate academy serving grades 9 to 12. Utilizing state approved college curriculum, students may obtain an AA degree upon graduation from high school. Several sites in the focus area were identified for sale, none of them were truly suitable for our preferred design and space requirements of the extensive athletics program and gymnasium. Summit located an off market site conforming to our client’s needs. It was determined the site was currently owned by the Carolina Park master planned community. After several meetings and discussions it was agreed the collegiate academy would be a great fit for the DRI and the surrounding community. Summit designed the building and site to fit the needs of the school and also fit in within aesthetics of the surrounding community. The site was purchased, rezoned, and successfully constructed. In addition to standard and specialty classrooms, this school featured a full gymnasium, Locker Rooms, Weight Room, and Student Café. Traffic and parking were designed to have minimal effects on the surrounding community and neighborhood roads.
