Duval County received its first classical charter school in the Fall of 2020. Jacksonville Classical Academy is affiliated with the renowned Hillsdale College, through its Barney Charter School Initiative. This is the 6th classical charter school in Florida as part of this growing trend. Currently, there are about 650 total charter schools in Florida.
JCA is a K-12 school that will initially teach only kindergarten through sixth grade, then add a grade each year. Having opened with about 700 students, the school now has an enrollment of about 1,000 students in grades K-10 after five years.
This 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art campus includes specialty classrooms, athletic areas, a 2 story cafetorium and student gardens.
Summit Construction is proud to have provided site selection consulting, property acquisition consulting, entitlement consulting, permitting, and construction services to Jacksonville Classical Academy for this project.
