Summit was requested to locate a suitable site in Mount Pleasant South Carolina for a 600 enrollment collegiate academy charter school. OCA is an elite sport and accelerated collegiate academy serving grades 9 to 12. Utilizing state approved college curriculum, students may obtain an AA degree upon graduation from high school. Several sites in the focus area were identified for sale, none of them were truly suitable for our preferred design and space requirements of the extensive athletics program and gymnasium. Summit located an off market site conforming to our client’s needs. It was determined the site was currently owned by the Carolina Park master planned community. After several meetings and discussions it was agreed the collegiate academy would be a great fit for the DRI and the surrounding community. Summit designed the building and site to fit the needs of the school and also fit in within aesthetics of the surrounding community. The site was purchased, rezoned, and successfully constructed. In addition to standard and specialty classrooms, this school featured a full gymnasium, Locker Rooms, Weight Room, and Student Café. Traffic and parking were designed to have minimal effects on the surrounding community and neighborhood roads. Oceanside Collegiate Academy was built in coordination with Pinnacle Charter Charter School Management Group, LLC

Summit Construction was selected to provide turn-key services for this 73,633 SF project in Jacksonville, FL. KIPP’s initial campus in Jacksonville, FL was the successful conversion of a former dog racing venue and track in Duval County. With enrollment continually increasing KIPP approved the construction of a new school in the former parking lot of the same project. Additionally, the center of the original racing track located between the existing and new buildings was to be filled and converted to a recreational soccer field and track, plus the addition of a new recreational airnasium adjoining the current recreation field. Construction included the removal of the existing parking lot and amenities, removal of negatively tested soils, importation of suitable fill for construction of roads and building pad, closing of an access road during the digging and structural bulk-head installation of a new retention area, plus total development of a new 72,000sf two story building. The entire new construction and renovation area was securely fenced preventing non-workers from having access to the construction areas while also enforcing Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act protecting all students and personnel on active school grounds. KIPP Jax was built for KIPP Schools.
